We share your information only where it is needed to run our business and serve you, with:

  • Our store platform: Shopify hosts our online store and processes information about how you use it.

  • Payment providers: such as Shop Pay and the other payment processors behind the payment methods shown at checkout, to take payment and detect fraud.

  • Fulfilment partners, suppliers and delivery carriers: to prepare, ship and deliver your order and handle returns. We share only what is needed, such as your name, delivery address, phone number, email address and order details.

  • Order tracking provider: Track123, to show you the status of your delivery.

  • Google and Pinterest: through the Google & YouTube app and the Pinterest tag, to measure website activity and advertising performance and to show relevant adverts, where you have consented to the relevant cookies. 5. Transfers Outside the United Kingdom

Some of our service providers, fulfilment partners and carriers are based outside the United Kingdom, including in Asia and the United States. This means your personal information, such as the details needed to deliver your order, may be sent to and processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from those in the UK.

Where this happens, we protect your information with a safeguard recognised under UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations (including the UK-US data bridge for certified providers), the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Where a transfer is necessary to carry out our contract with you, for example to deliver the goods you have ordered, we may rely on that necessity if no other safeguard applies. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards for a particular transfer.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. They fall into these types:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: needed for the website to work, such as keeping items in your basket, completing checkout and keeping the site secure. These do not require consent.

  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use our website, for example which pages are viewed, so we can improve it.

  • Advertising and marketing cookies: used by us and our advertising partners (Google, including YouTube, and Pinterest) to show relevant adverts and measure how they perform.

When you first visit our website, we show a cookie banner. We will not set advertising cookies, or analytics cookies that need your consent, until you agree. You can accept, decline or change your choices at any time using the cookie settings on our website, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website work.

7. Marketing

If you subscribe to our emails, we will send you offers and news about our products. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us. We will still send you essential service messages about your orders, such as order confirmations and delivery updates.

8. How Long We Keep Your Information

  • Order, payment and accounting records: 6 years, to meet tax and accounting rules.

  • Customer support messages: up to 2 years after the matter is closed.

  • Marketing details: until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent.

  • Account information: until you ask us to close your account.

  • Cookie and analytics data: for the lifetime of the relevant cookie, which is shown in our cookie settings.

When we no longer need information, we delete or anonymise it. We may keep some information for longer where the law requires it or to deal with a legal claim.

9. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;

  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;

  • Erase your information in certain circumstances;

  • Restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances;

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing;

  • Data portability: receive certain information in a portable format;

  • Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting what we did before you withdrew.

To use any of these rights, email help@abdchoice.com. We may ask you to verify your identity first. We normally reply within one month, and we may extend that by up to two further months if your request is complex, in which case we will tell you. There is normally no charge. These rights are not absolute and some exceptions apply.

10. Complaints

We would like the chance to put things right, so if you have a concern or complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at help@abdchoice.com, marking your message “Data protection complaint”. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, aim to reply much sooner, investigate it and let you know the outcome.

You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113.

11. Automated Decisions

We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Our payment providers may use automated checks to detect fraud, and you can ask for a person to review any payment decision you disagree with.

12. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, and our checkout is protected by an encrypted connection. No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and we recommend that you do not send sensitive information, such as full card numbers, by email.

13. Children

If you are under 18, you may use our website and place an order only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, as set out in our Terms of Service. We take particular care when handling children’s personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns about personal information a child has provided to us, please contact us so we can review the circumstances and take appropriate action in line with applicable data protection law.
